The Stellenbosch WO Shiraz 2020 by Somerbosch Wines originates in the heart of South Africa's Coastal Region, one of the most suitable areas for viticulture. The 100% Syrah grapes come from carefully selected vineyards and are harvested by hand to preserve their quality. After fermentation, approximately 60% of the wine ages for 12 months in second- and third-use French and American oak barriques, while the remainder is aged in stainless steel before being blended and bottled to complete its development in glass.
It displays an intense ruby red color, anticipating a rich and intriguing bouquet. The nose reveals notes of mulberry, ripe red fruits, and spices, enriched by a delicate vegetal hint that underscores its complexity. On the palate, it is harmonious and rounded, with well-polished tannins and a balanced structure, supported by a pleasant freshness. The finish is long and persistent, dominated by spicy nuances typical of the grape, reminiscent of black pepper and light toasting.
