Valgella Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2021 - Fratelli Polatti
The 2021 Valtellina Superiore DOCG – Fratelli Polatti is a premium Italian red wine made from Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes grown on the terraced vineyards of Valtellina in Lombardy, where steep slopes and alpine microclimates create ideal conditions for slow ripening and defined aromas. In the glass, it displays a ruby red color tending towards garnet, a reflection of the vintage and the partial aging in oak. On the nose, it offers a complex profile of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, light floral notes, and mineral hints that gradually open up with aeration. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious, and structured, with elegant, well-integrated tannins and a persistence that invites slow tasting. The typical freshness of Nebbiolo, supported by a balanced savory character, makes this wine suitable for both traditional and more complex dishes.  This Valtellina Superiore DOCG pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, game, roasts, cured meats, and aged cheeses, as well as flavorful meat-based pasta dishes. Serve at a recommended temperature of 16–18°C (60–64°F) to enhance its aromas and flavor structure.  Valtellina Superiore DOCG, governed by rigorous standards and tradition, requires a minimum aging of 24 months to fully express its balance and complexity, the result of manual labor in the terraced vineyards and the region's typical heroic viticulture.
