The Barbera del Sannio DOP 2022 – Monserrato 1973 is a red wine from Campania that interprets the local grape variety known as Camaiola, vinified here as a single varietal, with freshness and character. An intense ruby ​​red in color with purple highlights, this wine opens on the nose with notes of wild strawberries, violets, and orange peel, accompanied by subtle spicy sensations and hints of black pepper, which enrich its aromatic profile. Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel with maceration on the skins, followed by aging partly in amphorae and stainless steel, a technique that preserves the wine's juiciness, smoothness, and balance, with well-integrated tannins and a satisfying drinkability. On the palate, it is balanced and full-bodied, with a velvety tannic texture that supports a fragrant and persistent finish: the combination of fruit and freshness makes it perfect for both everyday conviviality and as an accompaniment to structured dishes.  This Campanian red pairs naturally with rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled red meats, game, roasts, cured meats, and aged cheeses, as well as meat-based pasta dishes, where its juiciness and harmony enhance the ingredients. Serve at a recommended temperature of 16–18°C (60–64°F) to enhance its aromas and flavor dynamics. The production of this wine reflects the approach of Monserrato 1973, a winery in Sannio (Campania), which uses low-impact techniques on hillside vineyards, showcasing native varieties and local tradition.
