The 2024 Bolgheri DOC “Orio” from Podere Il Castellaccio is a refined blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah vinified on sandy and clayey soils in the Castagneto Carducci area. Aged for approximately 12 months in second-/third-use barriques (as noted by specialist sources) and featuring an alcohol content of around 14%. In the glass, it has an intense ruby red color; aromas of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, vanilla, and light wild herbs. On the palate, it is soft, structured yet balanced, with well-sculpted tannins and a pleasant freshness. It pairs excellently with first courses with meat sauce, roasts, grilled meats, and aged cheeses.
