Donnas Valle D'Aosta DOC 2021 - Caves de Donnas
The Donnas Valle d’Aosta DOC 2021 by Caves de Donnas comes from heroic terraced vineyards on the rocky slopes of the Runc mountains, where Picotendro, a local biotype of Nebbiolo, grows alongside Neyret and Freisa Bleuvva. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported down the valley, sometimes by monorail, a testament to a viticulture that requires experience and dedication. Vinification in stainless steel is followed by over twelve months of aging in large oak barrels. The wine offers a brilliant ruby red color with garnet reflections, aromas of berries and spices, and a fresh, tannic, and slightly almondy flavor. An authentic mountain red, perfect with cured meats, braised meats, game, risotto, and cheeses, obtained without using weedkillers in the vineyards.
